SAFE The SAFE Project is a community-based, family-centered program for youth 12-21 in Suffolk County. This project, sited at Dimock Community Health Center and North Suffolk Mental Health Association, will assess adolescents for treatment using the Global Appraisal of Individual Needs (GAIN), and will utilize the Assertive Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) coupled with Assertive Continuing Care (ACC). These are all evidence-based interventions with proven effectiveness in building community capacity for family centered treatment.
Study shows that Energy Drink Consumption May Lead to Increased Risky Behavior
Recent research suggests that teens and young adults who consume energy drinks may be at greater risk of a number of high-risk behaviors, that include alcohol use, other drug problems, risky sex and violence, the 'New York Times' reported May 26. A March 2008 study in the 'Journal of American College Health', for example, linked energy-drink use among athletes to a variety of high-risk behaviors.
